And they say romance is dead
I proved on the weekend that I have the heart of a romantic.
First, some background. I met my partner over 4 years ago now. Our daughter is turning three in 2 weeks. We've been pretty casual about the whole marriage thing, mostly due to money constraints.
On the weekend we went out to spend the bonus that my partner had just been paid for some work well done - a new clothes dryer to replace the one that broke about 5 months ago, with a plan to put the rest into one of the 3 loans we are paying off at the moment.
We stopped by the local mall to pick up some groceries, and there was a big sale going on, most of the shops there were having some sort of sale happening.
So what do i do? Turn to my partner and say 'Well, you've been whinging about wanting one for a while, and all the jewelers have a sale on. Go find an engagement ring. You'll be happy because you'll finally have one, I'll be happy because it was cheap'
Now there's romance.
She said yes, by the way. More importantly, we got the ring for 20% off.
I can't say I've regret the decision so far, however since then all I'm hearing is 'when do you want to have the wedding, blah blah, does that mean we can have more kids now, blah blah'. Perhaps I should have kept my mouth shut. *grin*
