An XP SP2 annoyance
So, i've got no issues with SP2. It's well worth the upgrade. Some people don't quite agree, sure, but that's always going to be the case - people will always differ on opinions. (Case in point: the latest rave that people seem to be clamoring for out of IE is tabbed browsing. No thanks, says me. Hate it).
But i've discovered an annoyance in the pop up blocker.
The pop up blocker for the Google Toolbar was good. It was very handy. You override it's behaviors by holding down the control key, and you can always allow pop ups from any given site, should you elect to.
The same goes for the one built into IE now.
I run them both. I don't know if it works, but i feel extra protected :)
But the IE pop up blocker isn't quite as good for allowing pop ups always from certain sites.
My default homepage is about:blank. And i have a favorite that pops open a new window for my netbank. The Google pop up blocker would block this, so i have to hold down control when i click on the favorite. And considering that i normally open a new window to click it, i've allowed pop ups from the site 'about:blank'.
IE's built in blocker can't seem to understand this. It won't allow pop ups from about:blank.
Is this a bug or an un-thought of scenario? I must contact the people on the IE Blog (and do a Google search) to find out. Anyone been able to allow pop ups from blank?
