It's all about the speed
I've got my home internet connection with Telstra Bigpond. I have no complaints with them, we've very very rarely had any connectivity issues or anything. But I only got broadband recently (about 5 months ago) and to get it when I did, the cheapest available at the time was to upgrade from dialup to braodband but stay with Telstra - no connection fees that way.
But because of how it worked I'm locked into a two year contract. This is fine, generally, but recently other providers have suddenly got much cheaper. Not impressed :)
However, Telstra recently changed the pricing on their plans. The net result is that to stay on the same speed I have now (512/128), we can save about $16 a month. Not bank-breaking, but still good.
For $9 more a month (bugger all really) I can get what would until recently unaffordable - 1500/256.
Which option did I choose?
As of the 1st of January, my download speed will have tripled.
Booyah!
