Some things are more important than .Net or computers. Make me shave my head too!
I know this is hard to believe - and especially when it's me saying it. But some things are.
But really, there is. I can think of many things actually.Well, a few. Would you believe one or two?
Here's one, anyway. Shave For A Cure. I don't know about the rest of the world, but here in Australia, we have this thing where people get donations to shave their head - and then the money goes to leukaemia research.
On Friday (the 11th) of March 2005 was the World's Greatest Shave, where they were trying for a record number of people to all shave their head in support (while raising money, of course).
So anyway, my boss's wife Elaine decided to take part. If she could get at least $1000 (Aussie dollars) raised, she was going to shave her head. To top that, if $2000 was raised, then my wife Jordie, who works with my bosses wife) said she's shave hers too.
Well, that was last Friday. Currently, the donations are sitting at $1500 or so. Elaine shaved her head, and so did Jordie - there's another month that donations can be obtained, so we all figured that there was enough time still make it to the $2000 mark.
Why am I telling you this? You bloggers and blog readers out there - you can help! Make a donation and keep my wife an honest woman! I can handle her being bald for a good cause, but if the two grand target isn't reached, then it was all in vain. Think of the children!!!
I'll even go one better. Surely there's a whole lot of you who are just itching to donate. If enough of you out there donate enough - AU$4000 - I'll shave my head too (and my hair is almost as long as my wife's was). Good deal? Yeah - good deal!
You can donate online, simply go to the World's Greatest Shave web site and click the 'Sponsor' link. When it asks for the shaver number, search for either number 73429 or the name 'Elaine Noon' and select the one and only result that comes up. Your assistance in this appreciated (well...i think it is. I don't actually want to shave my head. But I will if you make me :)
Oh yes, and for you Aussies - anything over 2 bucks is tax deductable. Sorry, I don't know about overseas people. :)
Here's the proof that it actually happened.
