A Multimedia Expert Is Me
Pretty much since the moment my wife fell pregnant, I've been thinking that I really wanted to upgrade my digital camera. It's a measly 2 megapixel jobbie, with not very much by way of fine grain control over what the photo is that's being taken. Also, the rechargeable batteries are getting old, and not holding their charge anymore (and as we all know, when the batteries die it's time to upgrade, because simply buying new batteries would just plain be silly!)
My wife, on the other hand, said that she'd prefer to get a video camera, since we have a camera that works, but video we have to borrow.
On the weekend we went off to a big department store, knowing that they had a sale on as well as 18 months interest free finance.
Long story short, I got me a new digital camera, a printer dock to go with it (bundled free) so we can print photos without a computer, and we also got a digital video camera and a fire wire card so I can edit the movies on the computer and burn them off to DVD.
OK, so I know this post is not .net or code related. But I do have a good reason for mentioning all this. My daughter (currently 3 and 3/4) has taken to demanding toilet glasses. What are toilet glasses? Some old driving glasses of my wife's with yellow lenses that have been laying around at home. Whenever she goes to the toilet, she demands that she has to wear them - and she makes us wear them too if she notices us going there ourselves. I'm happy to humour her of course, but it led me to an idea.
This sort of thing is really worth remembering for her 21st birthday, when tradition entails that we do our darnedest to embarrass her about all the things she did when she was younger. I also had been meaning to make sure that this new camera does actually take pictures that come up ok on the computer. I'm still learning all the specifics, but out of the box point and shoot seems to come up ok. So now I have something to embarrass her with (I think I still need to learn to resize better :)
