Hardware Upgrades
I splurged a little bit yesterday. I'm now the proud owner of some more RAM and a larger hard drive. I've spent the last couple of years with half a gig and 40 gig (you can work out which is which, I'm sure).
Now all up I've got one and a half, and 240.
I've got room now (and the grunt) to have a few different VPC images all stored on the computer at once (hello VSTS).
I've got room now to dual boot to other OS's if I want it to run faster than in a VPC (hello longhorn).
I've got room now to really play with raw video (hello home made DVD movies from our new digital video camera).
I've got room now to make backups without burning them off to disc (hello reinstall that's been needed for a few months now that I've been putting off until november when whidbey comes out finally so that I wouldn't have to back everything up a second time when it does).
But I've discovered I'm still lacking in the hardware department. My sister and bf brought their computer over yesterday so I could copy some stuff off them. Putting them on my network was a bastard, since my DSL modem only has one network port and one USB port, and neither mine nor the other one had the usb driver installed.
I need a router, so I can share all this wonderful space! :)
