Canberra .NET UG Meeting anda Geek Dinner
September's UG Meeting was last night. Mitch Denny gave a demo of using VSTS, primarily from the developer's point of view, but managed to include a bit of time putting being a tester as well.
It all looks very cool. I've already played with Team System a bit, but all I've done is play on a machine that really didn't have enough hardware to support it all, and so my experiences have been less than optimal.
Besides the demos, it was good to catch up with some people again. I've been relatively low on the radar lately (both geek-social and geek-blogial[1] what with the newborn in the house and all), so seeing some geeks was certainly good for the soul.
Darren Neimke was there last night and we definitely made the decision that we'll organise another geek dinner for Canberra real soon now. We've been procrastinating about it for ages, so some headway towards it is nice. Sure, we haven't picked a date (for the dinner, not the wedding), or a location, or anything...in fact I think the conversation went something like this:
Darren: We need to have another geek dinner.
Me: Hell yeah. Definitely.
Darren: We should organise it.
Me: Yes, we should.
Darren: OK, let's organise it.
Me: For sure. Let's.
Darren: OK, well, I gotta go.
Me: Me too. See ya later.
See? There's progress being made, I tell you!
Actually, we decided to leave the planning until after he's back from the MVP summit.
He also posted an interesting picture from the meeting last night. The sun was setting, and he snapped a shot of everyone's silhouette against the wall (well, by everyone, I mean those who's silhouette's were visible). My head is quite visible in the shot, so I thought I'd point it out.

See? Absolute proof.
Apparently Andy Coates is going to be back in town for next month's meeting presenting on VSTO. I'm not a big Office user, but I might go along anyway, just for the hell of it. We'll see :)
