In Search of a Kind Soul - or Even a Recommendation
I got some good news and some bad news last week. My boss has authorised me a ticket to VSLive when it comes to Sydney in late November this year.
Frickin Yay! :)
But he can't authorise the expenditure on travel, accommodation, or any other expense. The ticket, and that's it. If I can get myself there, and get home again, not starve, and sleep in somewhere more comfortable than some gutter, then we have a go.
This is OK in a way, since all expenses would certainly be tax claimable. But it's not OK in most ways, as I'm not exactly living on a large budget, so staying at a hotel in the middle of sydney is not very likely to be within my price range.
So I thought I'd put a shout out to the blogosphere. I really want to go. Really really really. Can someone help me?
Do you live in Sydney? Are you going to VSLive? Can you put me up for the week? Please? Canberra isn't that far from Sydney (about 2.5-3 hours by car), but I still have no idea about the place. I've been there a couple of times for work - no idea where I was. I've driven through it a couple of times going elsewhere - no idea where I drove there either. I'm going to be a lost little puppy - actually, given my build, perhaps it would be better to remind people of the sequel to Babe :)
Alternatively, are you not from Sydney, but going to VSLive? Perhaps a shared accommodation arrangement could be made?
Or do you know a cheap place to stay? Somewhere clean enough and easy to find is all I need. The closer to the conference the better, but so long as someone can tell me either which way to walk or what buses or trains to catch, I can probably manage.
