Canberra .net User Group Meeting - October
On Thursday evening this week was the October meetup of the Canberra User Group.
I went along this month for a few reasons, even though I really don't have any use right now for the topic being presented.
First up, Andy was the presenter. Andrew Coates works for Frank in the Sydney DPE team, and he's an awesome guy. Any excuse to catch up is well worth the effort.
Second, while I'm not currently needing to do any Office development, I was interested to see just how well the Visual Studio Tools for Office had matured. Man - I'm impressed. Rather than go through it all, if you're interested, check out his slide deck. It was a rerun of a presentation he gave at TechEd this year, so I guess I'm a bit behind the 8 ball on seeing this stuff, but it's still very cool.
Third - free pizza.
The presentation this time was being recorded to be available as a webcast. The recording went...mostly smooth. Disbling the network connection for 5 minutes half way through probably didn't help, but we'll see how it turns out (I haven't found a link for it yet, I'll update when I get one).
Last month the group was inundated with Readify people (Mitch, Darren, pretty much everyone else...) but they were conspicuously absent this time. Maybe since they all saw it at TechEd they didn't need to come this time :)
Now I'm waiting to find out what's happening next month - so far the last two have been great, let's go for a hat-trick!
