Speaking of Maths...

Since I posted my Maths test results, an funny conversation started up between myself and a co-worker.

We ended up with what we thought was interesting little puzzle.

The following is an equation. What do you need to know to realise that it is actually correct?

1 / 3 = 0.1

(Posted on main feed as all programmers are nerds, right? :)

The only other possibility I can think of is another base answer, being that the right hand side is in base 3, while the left is in any base greater than 3. I don't like this so much, as it is not as clean as my first answer.

And that's the answer I was looking for.

What I actually wanted to say was that the whole equation was in base three, but for that to work the left hand side would be 1 / 10, and then the answer would be correct in both base 10 and 3, and it's not a fun puzzle anymore.
