Anyone know about VB Refactor! for RTM?
Several months ago a very big deal was made about the existence of the VB Refactor! addin for VB2005. But as you can see by following that link, the page there is still talking about it it being a Beta 2 build.
I went to the devexpress website to see if they had a newer version (since they're the ones that wrote it), and while it doesn't mention Beta 2 explicitly, the published date of the download is the 12th of August - definitely not an RTM build :)
So does anyone know when there'll be an RTM version of this? I'd like to install it, but I'm not going to try to install a beta.
Update 2005/11/4 (AU time): Richard Morris from DevExpress left the following comment - I thought it'd be useful to just insert it in the post, rather than leave it in the comments area only:
There will be a new build on our website at the very latest by the official launch (Mon 7th Nov), but we are pushing hard to try to get it out earlier. Note we will also have a new build of the Bonus refactorings available to those who register.
Because Refactor! is the endorsed standard for VB2005 there are quite a lot of people who have to sign off on every build to live up to that endorsement. So we tend not to update this version as often as we would Refactor!Pro or our other products which require fewer ducks to be in a row before a release. Having said that, the build on the website today should work fine with the Beta 2 and every community technology preview since (June CTP, July CTP, August CTP and Release Candidate 1). NB: The release build next week will only work with VS 2005 RTM and later.
Thanks Richard!
Update 2005/11/7 (AU time): I just checked the page at the devexpress website. They have a new version up, version 1.0.25.0, which is a release candidate. It seems there's one bug left to be ironed out:
There is one known issue we're working on: When encapsulating generic fields, the generated code fails to place the generic type specifier inside parentheses. We expect to release an update that corrects that shortly. If you would like to be automatically notified when we release, simply choose the registration option below.
I have to say, I like their style. Instead of making us wait longer, here's a build, and we'll keep you posted. Nice work again guys! I'm downloading right now :)
