Can you guess what I'm doing?
Well, can you?

Yup, I'm home on a Saturday night playing solitaire on my computer. Pretty Sad.
But wait! Is that....?
Yes - I finally found time to install Vista B2. I've been trying since it came out to find time (I already found time once, actually, but it was a dodgy burn and the installer had a million different CRC errors, and once I reburned at a slower speed it was too late to keep going for the night.
I have to say, I'm pretty damn impressed so far. We upgraded Noonie's laptop last night, and it seemed pretty sluggish (and took a hell of a long time to run the upgrade, let alone once it was done) but usable, certainly.
On my machine (an Athlon XP 2400 with 1.5 gig of ram) it's pretty zippy. The install (to a new partition - hmm...which reminds me, I better check that it can still dual boot XP) went pretty fast (faster than I was expecting) - I started the install at 5pm this arvo, and I logged in for the first time at about 5.52.
After having dinner, I had a play. I'll get into the nitty gritty as time goes on, but I've already run into one pretty big compatability problem. The first thing I did was install Paint Shop Pro so that I could take a few screen shots nicely - and yes, PSP installs and runs fine - but it's screen capture ability has been crippled. All it gets is a shot of blackness.
So I'm back to the old ctrl-printscreen and then crop method :)
Oh, there's one other reason for waiting until now to do the install - I bought a new video card today. Nothing special, just a Radeon 9550, but it means that I can run glass - see:

Why do I mention that? Simply so I can now say Neener Neener to Mitch, who isn't getting glass on his laptop :)
