Like a Kid in a Candy Store

Oh my god. Today was FUN.

Fun for a geek, anyway - and if you aren't one, what are you doing reading my blog?

Today saw the powers above me giving approval for the app that we're about to start writing be written using some fairly new stuff. So today, and for the first time with managements full approval, I installed Beta 2 of WinFX and Windows Workflow Foundation. I spent my afternoon building a proof of concept involving a windows service that hosts a WCF service, where the service calls push request to run different workflows onto a background threadqueu. The client application that calls the WCF service will be running a few workflows itself, and will use WPF to display it's stuff to the user.

It's just a proof of concept that doesn't actually do any useful work yet, just proving that we can tie the different technologies together easily and that they run fast enough.

And damn it was good. Play day all day! And for the next few weeks! Yeeha!
