Current Score - Teched:3, Me:15+

TechEd so far has been a blast. Lots of things to do and see - I'm getting very very tired (and I say this after skipping the party last night and just having a quiet night in the hotel room watching TV and reading).

The party looked like most people were having a lot of fun - and it did look pretty good, really. But nightclubbing stopped being fun for me years ago - a lot of people packed together in tight spaces, with no AC, extremely loud music (so you can't sit and chat), with food elusively hidden somewhere (I saw a lot of people eating, but couldnt' find any food for myself!) just wasn't my cup of tea. Oh, and the theme for the night was sport - which certainly doesn't boat my float.

But a lot of people were happy, so I'm not complaining! I stayed for 20 minutes then walked back to the hotel and watched the West Wing :) So that's score one to TechEd.

My presentation with Bill was yesterday too. despite eval feedback to the contrary, we actually were well prepared, and the demos we attempted really did work the way we expected in the numerous practices we did before hand. But when it came to crunch time and time to present, my mind blanked out. I wasn't nervous, but I just forgot completely everything I was going to say. So I let Bill down a bit there, but he doesn't seem to be holding a grudge, so I don't feel too bad :)  The demo went completely AWOL and worked when it was supposed to break, and broke when it was supposed to work. Go figure. So that flummoxed me too. My wife thinks it's hilarious (and I suppose it is pretty funny) but I was really hoping it would go a lot better than it did.

But such is life. Learn from the mistakes, hope to get better in the future. So that's score two for TechEd.

Score 3 for TechEd didn't actually happen at the venue. for some reason overnight I got a blood nose in my sleep - I must have bumped it in my sleep or something, possibly combined with the air con drying out the room. But I woke up with the sheet and pillow covered in blood. I left a note for the cleaners apologising, hopefully it hasn't damaged the mattress or anything...

However, the rest of the time has been AWESOME. Lots of freebies collected - WinFX bricks, tshirts, hats, blow up things. Plus I've sat for MCP exams and got myself 3 MCTS qualifications: Winforms, Web and Distributed Applications. I was going to try for my MCPD in Enterprise apps this morning but they're sold out of exam vouchers :)

The sessions have been great, catching up with everyone has been great, it's just rocking. Congrats to everyone who's worked on putting it together - it's been awesome.

Geoffy...  when you have a bad night you really do it with a bang don't you...  Blood nose? and you leave a note! As if the cleaners will believe it anyway *roflmao* (I am a sympathetic wife, REALLY I am!)

I'm glad you got to see westwing though because I taped it for you even though you didn't tell me too...  but only managed to tape 3/4 of the second episode :D.

Love you. Can't wait until you're back tomorrow night. You're looking after the kids and I'm going out (I wish).
