Toy Week
Week 2 at Readifiy is going well so far. I actually checked some code into the company TFS repository yesterday and today, which is quite neat - so far I haven't heard too many complaints :)
But more importantly this week is toy week.
Yesterday my company laptop arrived. It had an OS and Office 2003, and that's about it. So today (and tomorrow too - I'm not done yet) is getting everything else installed like VS and SQL Server. I've never actually had a laptop at home before, so it's quite a novel experience sitting here in the lounge room on the couch typing away in front of the TV.
But even more importantly is that the order I made last week from an online computer store is finally arriving soon. It shipped today from sydney, so I should get it tomorrow or thursday.
So pretty soon I'll be upgrading my home desktop machine from an Athlon XP 2400 with 1 gig of RAM and IDE HDDs (the primary being only 40 gig) to an AMD 64 bit dual core 4200 with 2 gig of RAM, a 320 gig SATA2 HDD and one of those GeForce 7600GS's that Chuck loves so much. Once the bits have acutally arrived (and I've proven they work) I'll do a bit of a review about where I bought the stuff - extremely cheap, but their web site needs a bit of work.
On the weekend just gone I picked up a case and a wireless card, so when I've finally got the bits together I can really have some fun putting it all together and playing a 64 bit OS for the first time.
Damn - I bet work will get in the road! :)
