I Found It! I Found it!

For the last few weeks I've been missing something that's quite important to me. My memory stick.

The last time I can remember seeing it was when I was packing for TechEd - I'm pretty sure I decided to bring it, just in case.

It ended up that I didn't need it, but that's fine. Better to be safe than sorry.

So since I got back, I haven't been able to find it. I figured it had fallen out of wherever I packed it in the hotel room, and it's been kicked behind the wardrobe or something like that. Such is life.

But this morning I found it! And now that I've found it, I can remember packing it. You know how when you have something small and valuable you want to be careful that you don't lose it, so you put it in a safe place? I found a safe place. An extremely safe place in fact. The tiniest little pocket inside my back that I don't remember even knowing about.

So I just saved myself about 80 bucks by not having to buy a new one. I'm sorta disappointed actually - I was beginning to look forward to the idea of replacing a 1 gig stick with a 2 gig version :)

Just out of curiosity ... what brand/model is it?   After reading Scott Hanselman's latest blog about ReadyBoost and following some of the links it appears that there is a huge difference in the performance of usb drives depending on which vendor supplies them.

My current one is a 1GB Astone 80x mini (http://www.astone.com.au/usb_mini_80x.htm). My priority at the time was cheap and big - and at the time it was - 45 bucks i think. In finding theproduct page I found it for 35 bucks (typical) :) (http://www.i-store.com.au/product/?CategoryID=26&productid=6172)

It's funny, that Apacer handy steno model he talked about is what my previous stick was. The only reason i replaced it was because it started to throw errors when reading and writing, but i think it was vista (a ctp from earlier this year) that was the problem, not the stick - but i couldn't trust it after that :)  I also replaced it because it was only 256meg.

The apacer ones _are_ really good - and hard to break as well.
