Inductionated.
That's probably not really a word, but it should be.
Today I'm at induction - basically it's a chance to finish off doing all the little crappy things that you don't want to do, like write a bio and work out what phone to get, and learn about how the company operates and things like that.
I'm also sitting the THE Readify office, which is a really strange experience. It's completely different to what I expected, but at the same time it's exactly what I was wanting - a room with a long table with room for a lot of people to sit down with a laptop, plug into the net, and work :)
Last night I went out to dinner with Mum and Dad and my sister and her partner. It was a good night, and dinner was pretty good. I got the sweet chilli beef stir fry, which was nice (but not sweet), and a couple of rum and cokes. After we got home we sat and watched Top Gear (that had been recorded), and then I coded for a while before falling asleep at about 2am.
Pretty soon now I'll be releasing an app I've been writing in my spare time. It's coming along, although it still needs some prettiness work. Basically, it's a standalone app that takes advantage of the newMediaObject method in the MetaWeblog API sao you can upload whatever files you like to your blog (multiple files at once, etc) - with some options to have it generate image or anchor tags in the clipboard if you want it. I've just got some 'wizardy' type screens to finish off when you run the app for the first time so that it can learn your blog address find out your username and password, etc. Oh, and I need to look at encrypting the stored password :)
My flight back home leaves in about 3 and a half hours, so i have leave in a little over two - so my day here being induced is almost complete (as you can tell by the fact that I'm blogging I'm about done already anyway). I've deliberately not read any new posts in bloglines today so that I've got something to read for the flight home - just before I leave the office I'll load the page and then close the lid :) At the moment I've got 63 unread items, so it should hopefully keep me busy for a while.
