Do The Bus Stop
I think I can really get to like this virtual office lifestyle.
This morning I'm sitting at a bus stop waiting for my bus to arrive. I was going to be spending my day at home finishing off a prototype to prove that you can execute windows powershell scripts from code in the background - but all I need to do it my laptop, and I have an ulterior motive for traveling today. The sunshine outside is annoying, since it makes the screen quite dark, but I'm managing well enough that it's not slowing me down.
What's really annoying is that I was running about two minutes late for the bus. I knew when to expect to come past, but I had to stop to put my laptop in my bag, and make sure that I had my keys so I could get back inside when I'm home. I walked outside, looked down my street, and there went the bus. Missed it by *this* much :) But they run every half hour, so I can get some work done while I wait.
A net connection would probably come in handy (if you're reading this it means I've come home again, since I won't have access until I'm back in my own house) but I have the msdn doco and my brain, and that's enough :)
Yesterday (while I was in Melbourne) my wife got a call saying that Kingdom Hearts 2 has arrived, so we can come and pick it up. Since she doesn't work anywhere near the store we preordered it at, we wouldn't be able to go get it until the weekend - unless I go myself.
I haven't caught a bus in about 12 years (since I was in high school). But for this, I'll figure it out. So I'm off to Belconnen Mall to pick up my time waster for the year. I figure I can work on the bus, then I'll get the game, then sit and have a coffee somewhere and keep on working. At some stage I'll come home again, and manfully resist temptation to play until the girls have gone to bed and I can sit up all night getting sore thumbs.
w00t!!!
