Dear Lord, What Have I Done To My Face?
From about the age I was 17, I decided that I didn't like how I looked clean-shaven. So I grew a goatee. I much preferred it over smooth skin.
It had to shaved off when I was at school - I want to private school where one of the rules was that the guys had to be clean shaven. Every school holidays I'd grow it back though :) Once I finished high school I grew it and kept it.
It's been through a few different styles over the years - I used to grow it quite long, but I got sick of it eating it (when your chin hair is long enough to be stuck in your mouth, when you wake up in the morning it's almost always there) so now I keep it relatively short - trimmed every couple of weeks or so.
In fact, I just really don't like shaving. I normally only shave the rest of my face every two or three weeks (I know it's time to shave when my wife complains) - and even then I don't use a razor, but hair clippers :)
So since I finished high school (almost 13 years now) I've taken the goatee off twice - on both occasions so that someone that didn't know me before I grew it could see how I looked without it. The most recent was a couple of years ago when my daughter wanted me to get rid of it. I knew it was coming straight back when her immediate response was 'grow it back daddy!'. My wife had never seen me without it either, and her response was to take one look at me and burst out laughing.
I've always thought that when I was clean shaven I looked like Meatloaf - at least, I did when I was back in my early twenties.

Now that he's cut all his hair off and looks old, the similarity isn't quite the same (at least, I don't see it, but maybe other people do :).
So why am I telling you all this?
Starting on the 1st of November, we enter the month of Movember.
Movember is all about raising money and awareness for men's diseases and stuff - specifically prostate cancer. Movember is where men from all over get sponsored or gather donations to grow moustache. Last year I know that Dave Lemphers did it, this year a whole lot more are - including a mass of people from Readify.
Now, given that I've got a goatee, I've already got a moustache - which isn't fair on everyone else. So this afternoon, in preparation for Movember, I took the lot off.
Here's the before shot (excuse the crappy hair):

And this is what I hope to have in a month's time (or something like it, I'm still deciding on style):

Maybe it's me, in that shot above I can't help but think I look like the sexy twin of Chuck Sterling. You're right, it's just me.
But for now, all I have is this:

Disgusting, isn't it?
Please, help stop my children being frightened of me, and stop my wife laughing at me. Sponsor me (or donate) for Movember, and I'll soon be nice and hairy again.
To donate, go here, search for Readify as the team name, and then follow the links form there. The cool thing is that for every dollar any of us from Readify get donated, Readify is going to match! So spend big! :)
Oh, and remember:
