CrankyGoblin Update
I've been building a new version of CrankyGoblin. Having successfully lost the source to the ole Goblin, I've got start again from scratch. The interesting thing is this time I've got it running on Vista with IIS7.
So I've downloaded the latest version of Community Server (2.1 SP2) and it's built and running on my local machine against a backup of the CG database, and it's working sweet.
Now all I've got to do is re-munge the NewMediaObject API so that it uploads inline images to my preferred location, and rewrite Gaptcha from memory (well, I've got the V1 release source code, but V1.1 had been written - and it was a pretty major refactor), and we're good to go. I really can't be bothered to remove all the warnings like I'd done last time, so screw that - I can live with em :)
So I'm thinking I'll probably upload a non-Gaptcha'd version pretty soon in the hope of having slightly less flakiness, and work on Gaptcha over the next couple of weeks.
The problem with this plan is that CG is getting hit pretty hard with spam (Jordie's blog gets shitloads - she doesn't have gaptcha enabled due to flakiness issues, and mine gets one or two a day - can you believe there's a spam loser that sits and submits spam manually on my blog a couple of times a day because he can't crack it? :) so I might need to disable comments completely in the interim until some form of spam blocking is back.
Of course, given the frequency and quality of my posts over the last couple of months, this doesn't really matter that much :)
So we'll see. If things seem to running smoothly and quickly - look over your shoulder. It might, just might, be me there with my finger on the pulse for a change.
Nah :)
