I need a new host

Things have been flaky on CrankyGoblin for a while. Some of it has been my fault (dodgy code uploaded to the server :) but a lot had also been flakiness on the part of my provider.

I really like having my own web server. I can upload whatever I want (within legal reasons), share whatever I want (ditto), host my blog, tinker with my blog (CS high school football rules!), do whatever I like so long as it's web based (sometimes it'd be nice to be able to host a windows service - but we'll save that till I'm making the big bucks :)

So the server flakiness is getting to me.

I got a reminder email telling me that my service needs to be renewed in 3 months. So I guess it's time to start shopping around. WebHost4Life is cheap, and I need cheap, but I also need stable - and fast (don't get me started on how my old workstation - a real dog - can serve my blog faster than WH4L can).

Anyone got any suggestions? If I can find something affordable, I think I really need to switch. I've had enough.

I got the same notice and put it in my TODO folder, still not committed to another year of shared hosting joy with WH4L.  Actually, I'm thinking about moving to a WH4L VPS plan for $59.95 a month.  Once again, what WH4L offers as a VPS can't be touched that I've seen.  Will let you know, my WH4L compadre in a parallel universe!
